It is a kingly act to assist the fallen.
― Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa Maternity Home opened its doors on December 13, 1997, and the first woman arrived on December 14th.
Mother Teresa Maternity Home was established to provide a temporary residence, in a safe environment, for pregnant women in need, to assist them in completing their pregnancy in safety and comfort, to assist them with referrals to existing community services and agencies, and to encourage communications with families. The Home provides for the needs of women 18 and over, or teenagers emancipated by court order, who are homeless and in need of care and support. Care is available for three months following the birth of the baby.
The Home is drug and alcohol free, and women are expected to share in the upkeep and care of the home, as well as make payments towards rent as able. Support and development of education, parenting skills, adoption information, job training and life skills are provided in a home atmosphere. Community resources are available according to each one's needs.
Mother Teresa Maternity Home is supported solely by community donations. A Guild coordinates volunteers and donations to the program.
